Long before coffee shops, social media, and community centers, America had taverns.

They were the heartbeat of their communities.

Neighbors gathered to exchange news. Travelers shared stories from distant places. Friendships were formed. Businesses were started. Ideas were debated.
History was witnessed…and sometimes even made.

(And yes…more than a few questionable decisions were made after one ale too many. )

That’s really what History, Haunts & Hamburgers is all about.

Not recreating the past.

But rediscovering something we’ve quietly lost.

A place where people can simply gather, share a meal, tell stories, ask questions, laugh, learn, and leave knowing one another a little better than when they arrived.

For years, this gathering was known as Paranormal Burger Night. Funny enough, while ghosts often got us to the table, the conversations rarely stayed there. Before long, we’d be discussing local history, forgotten legends, astronomy, science, philosophy, books, archaeology, preservation, and whatever other rabbit hole someone happened to mention.

It only seemed fitting that the name finally caught up with the conversation.

Whether you’re fascinated by history, haunted places, folklore, astronomy, science, books, archaeology, philosophy…

…or you simply enjoy spending an evening with curious people…

There are no presentations.

No investigations.

No lectures.

No expectations.

Just good food, great company, and conversations that have a funny way of going places no one expected.

𝐀 𝐅𝐞𝐰 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬…

 Dinner is purchased individually.

 Reservations aren’t required, but they’re highly recommended. If you’d like to guarantee yourself a seat (especially if you’d like to sit with the group), please consider calling Hanover Tavern at (804) 537-5050 ahead of time.

 Weather permitting, we’ll plan to gather out on the patio beginning around 6:15 PM.

 Can’t make it right at 6:15? No worries! Swing by whenever you can. We usually hang around for quite a while, and there’s always room for another conversation.

 One small favor… please be patient with the Hanover Tavern staff. If we have a great turnout, we’ll essentially be over-running the restaurant (which is a wonderful problem to have!). Food may take a little longer than usual, but we’ll have plenty of good company while we wait. If the weather cooperates, maybe we’ll even break out the cornhole boards and enjoy the evening together.
